Oldfield Public School, previously known as Oldfield Road Public School, was founded in 1959.
In 1988, a collaborative decision was made by the then Minister for Education, the Hon. Rod Cavalier and the former Principal, Mr Bill O'Sullivan, after the great Australian wicketkeeper, Bert Oldfield (1894 - 1976).
